Captured in Dunedin, New Zealand
Born and raised in Dunedin, Tina has spent her life caring for others. For more than three decades she has worked as a caregiver, helping people recover, build confidence, and achieve their goals. It is a role that reflects who she is at heart: someone who enjoys supporting others and quietly making a difference.
Life has brought its share of challenges. Two serious car accidents left a lasting impression, teaching her the value of caution and resilience. Yet some of her most memorable experiences came unexpectedly. At just 21, while working at a rest home, she was sponsored to travel to Paris on a month-long pilgrimage, an opportunity she never imagined would come her way. The journey opened her eyes to the wider world and remains one of the most remarkable chapters of her life.
Determination is a recurring theme in Tina's story. She completed two half marathons in her forties, proving to herself that commitment and persistence can turn a goal into reality. More recently, she has focused on her health, using exercise and an active lifestyle to improve her wellbeing after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Beyond caregiving, Tina has a creative side. She enjoys photography, writing, and sharing her work at local poetry gatherings. Whether through creativity, fitness, or caring for others, she continues to challenge herself, learn, and grow.
If there is one thing Tina hopes people remember about her, it is simple: she never gave up trying. Even when life was difficult, she kept moving forward, doing her best every step of the way.
“I’ve always tried not to give up.”
