One person. One portrait. One story.
One person. One portrait. One story.
Version 78 is a documentary portrait project that captures snapshots of people, and reveals the stories that have made them who they are, in that moment.
We don’t stay the same throughout our lives, but we do go through many versions of ourselves in a lifetime. We are continuously shaped by life, people, choices, and experiences, that form new versions of ourselves.
And while a portrait can capture a person in one moment in time, it isn’t always easy to see the story behind that face.
Each Version 78 portrait is an attempt to capture a person’s authentic self, paired with a story that creates a connection for the reader.
My hope is that this collection will bring together people from different backgrounds, generations, and walks of life to reveal a snapshot of themselves. But also to encourage others to reflect on and see something of themselves in the subjects.
In a world where we pass people every day without knowing anything about their lives, Version 78 is my invitation for you to slow down, consider the person behind the portrait, and contribute to this growing collection.
Version 78 was created by Dunedin, New Zealand-based photographer Noel Jhinku.
